This album is about my love for the road, for the outdoors, and for adventure. It started as about 12 songs, then got shortened to 8, and then finally I decided that these 6 songs were the only ones I wanted to release. I feel like this album finds a nice balance between my acoustic/country style and my rap style. I've been telling people that I've been working on a country rap album and they usually give me a funny look. I tell them not to google "country rap" because what you will find is a genre of music that is nothing like this album. I feel proud of what I have done here, and I hope that you like it. -broiler

For the most part, I wrote the songs and the lyrics. Each musician adds their flavor and plays the chords and patterns in their own specific way, so I feel like I need to give them credit for the writing as well. Especially Henry Nagle's pedal steel who is amazing and without him this album would not be anything close to what it is. He also plays bass on alot of the tracks. Dallas Jones plays harmonica and he came up with his parts on song 1 and he nailed his part on the very first take. Big thanks to Gabe "Big G" McDowell, he came up with the drums for songs 3 and 4 and played on 1, 2, and 5 as well. I knew that this album needed his drumming, without his style it would lean more country and I wanted to make sure that it had that rap backbone. Big thanks to Eligh who wrote his verse and also the chorus on track 5. I have always been a huge fan of his and it was really cool to work with him. Also big thanks to DJ Swamp who did the scratch pieces on track 1. He currently plays in Ministry so I wasn't sure he would be feeling this track, but he assured me that I came to the right guy and he truly delivered. Tom Hruschka played piano track 3, and he played this incredibly solid for having partaked in a few cold ones prior to recording. Nate Prowse on piano track 4 and Luis Garcia on bass track 4, these guys always add flavor. Like 15 or 20 years ago Joe Carr taught me the opening little guitar riff on track 5 and I stole it and used it here. Also, about 20 years ago in Chico I heard this awesome band at a party called Butte County All Stars. They played a song called County Jail and it has been stuck in my head ever since. I decided I wanted to base my own song around that chorus and wrote my own version of County Jail. I wasn't sure who to give credit to so I was going to just say "that guy from Butte County All Stars wrote the chorus". But when I got Henry to record the bass part he said hey I've heard this before, he used to play in a band Shelby Cobra and the Mustangs and they played a song called County Jail. As it turns out Shelby was the singer of Butte County All Stars and I made the connection and he gave me the go ahead to borrow the chorus. His original version is really great, you should check it out on youtube.

Biggest thanks to Ellen for being so patient and loving!
